Royal Patent Upon Confirmation of the Land Commission.

Whereas, the Board of Commissioners to Quiet Land Titles have by their decision awarded unto G.D. Hueu, Kuleana Helu 8521B an estate of Freehold less than Allodial, in and to the land hereafter described, and whereas Pio Dias, the present occupier of the Ahupuaa of Kukuau 2nd has presented to the Minister of Interior, [a] certificate of the Commissioner of Boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, defining the boundaries of the said Ahupuaa as hereinafter described and has paid into the Royal Exchequer the sum of One hundred and Twenty-five Dollars ($125.00) as the Government commutation therein.

Therefore, Lunalilo Kalakaua, by the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known unto all men, that he has, for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given absolutely, in Fee Simple, unto G.D. Hueu, all that certain piece of land situate at Kukuau 2nd Hilo in the Island of Hawaii and described as follows:

Commencing at a red wood post and bottles buried in the road makai of Kahoowaiwai"s house, at the North West corner of this piece and running thence along road
South 83° East 318 feet along Haae"s kuleana;
South 80°00" East 409 feet along Kanaina"s kuleana;
North 35° 12" East 3.50 feet along boundary of Kukuau 1st. This boundary is changeable as the water in Waiolama stream at its mouth has always belonged to Kukuau 1st.
North 80° 30" West 722 feet along the seashore;
South 35° 12 West 350 feet along Ponohawai to the point of commencement. The first piece contains Five and 65/100 (5.65) acres.

2nd
Commencing at a hole at the mauka South corner of this lot and at the makai South corner of Kanakaole"s kuleana, and running along the edge of the swamp in accordance with the Royal Patents of adjoining lands.
North 53° 30" West 230 feet along Kanakaole"s piece;
North 58° 00" West 98 feet along Kaiwi"s;
North 59° 00" West 230 feet;
North 46° 30" East 97 feet along Haae"s kuleana;
North 36° 00" East 415 feet;
South 65° 00" East 132 feet along Kanaina"s kuleana;
South 35° 00" East 92 feet;
South 65° 00" East 190 feet;
North 65° 00" East 102 feet;
South 29° 00" West 380 feet along boundary of Kukuau 1st to point of commencement, and containing Three 1/2 (3.50) Acres.

3rd
Commencing at the North Eastern corner of this land, at a buried stone and bottles in the Alanaio ravine just above Volcano road, and running thence up the ravine, the center of which is the boundary between this land and Ponohawai;
South 32° 30" West 838 feet to A cut in bed of stream;

To have and to hold the above granted land in Fee Simple, unto the said George D. Hueu, his Heirs and Assigns forever, subject to the taxes to be from time to time imposed by the Legislative council, equally upon all landed property held in Fee Simple.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the Hawaiian Islands to be affixed, this 12th day of June, 1875.
