ROYAL PATENT,
UPON CONFIRMATION OF THE LAND COMMISSION.

Whereas, the Board of Commissioners to Quiet Land titles have by their decision awarded unto American Board of Commissioners of Foreign Missions, an estate of Freehold less than Allodial, in and to the land hereafter described by Royal Patent No. 1600 of this series, and land was confirmed to said Patent Board a new Patent has been requested and authorized to be granted to Samuel N. Castle and Amos S. Cooke of Honolulu in the Island of Oahu, Hawaiian Islands. Interest for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, a corporation by law established having its offices of direction and business at Boston in the County * [insert along side] *of Suffolk and Commonwealth of Massachusetts their successors and assigns;

Therefore, Kamehameha, by the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands by this Royal Patent, makes known unto all men, that he has, for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given Absolutely, in Fee Simple, unto Samuel N. Castle & Amos S. Cooke in trust as above mentioned. All those certain pieces of land situated at [left blank], and described as follows:

No. 1. The Mission Premises in Wananalua, Hana, Maui containing 27 64/100 acres known also as Part  ....

No. 20. “The Punahou Premises” known as Part 1, Section 2, No. 1 of said Patent No. 1600, excepting 26 66/100 Acres, Patented to Maria P. Chamberlain 27 50/100 acres, Patented to Elizabeth M. Rogers [page 114] and 36/100 acres, patented to Samuel N. Castle and Amos S. Cooke, leaving 134 4/100 Acres.
Containing in all 452 44/100 Acres, more or less; together with all the rights of piscary to the above described lands belonging according to the Statute Laws of the Kingdom, excepting and reserving to the Hawaiian Government all mineral or metalic mines of every description. Reserving also the rights of Native Tenants.

By this Patent is annulled so much of Royal Patent 1600 of this Series bearing date of August 30th 1855 as relates to the above described lands.

To have and to hold the above granted lands in Fee Simple unto Samuel N. Castle and Amos S. Cooke, In Trust as aforesaid, and to their successors and assigns [?] subject to the taxes to be from time to time imposed by the Legislative Council equally upon all landed property held in Fee Simple.

The Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the Hawaiian Islands to be affixed this 30 day of April, A.D. 1855.
