My former occupancy was from Piikoi, but I have never gotten the land. My occupancy there at Kainehe was old, the land I had there formerly is not mine, it was returned by me to him.

However, what I am asking you is for my little houselot at Kainehe. Here are the dimensions. The length is 19.3 feet and the width is 17.3 feet. if you wish to question, Pupuka is the witness.

A letter about the houselot. I, Lani, hereby tell of my claim for a houselot at Lahaina. This is the right - the Ali`i Kaikioewa gave me the land and afterwards Nahienaena gave this to Leleiohoku. Because of the petition of Kaoo to the Chiefs her place was returned, together with our places.

Kaanapali by "Kooka," Namauu's land.

Land from Kaikioewa in 1837. Lani has lived there in peace to the present. Kaauwai has also known Kalaukumuole, Nakapa, Kauhihope and Kapule who are husbandmen on Lani's land and they had been living there before Lani had obtained it. He has heard of many other people who are living there, but he has not seen them nor has [he] known about their work.
