No. 352, [Serang alias] Lani, Lahaina, Dec. 30, 1856
N.R. 100v2

My former occupancy was from Piikoi, but I have never gotten the land. My occupancy there at Kainehe was old, the land I had there formerly is not mine, it was returned by me to him.

However, what I am asking you is for my little houselot at Kainehe. Here are the dimensions. The length is 19.3 feet and the width is 17.3 feet. if you wish to question, Pupuka is the witness.
LANI

A letter about the houselot. I, Lani, hereby tell of my claim for a houselot at Lahaina. This is the right - the Ali`i Kaikioewa gave me the land and afterwards Nahienaena gave this to Leleiohoku. Because of the petition of Kaoo to the Chiefs her place was returned, together with our places.

The witness of the return to me of this place is Kaoo. After the houselot was returned to me the Ali`i told me to build a house in this lot. That is the basis of my right.
