Greetings to the Land Commissioners:

I hereby tell you of my lot, which is just mauka of Kelawea. It is mauka of the lot where Mr. Peck formerly lived; and mauka side adjoins the lot of Anuu. I enter this to be worked on by the land commissioners.

David Malo, sworn, I have heard that their reason (for living on the land) was themselves. Hoapili had wanted attendants for Loka (lot); therefore he said to D. Malo:

.... ther with Maele. Hoapili-wahine was present when I had heard this from Hoapili. Maele and I, together, went to the uplands of Kelawea, where we did surveying, Lota (Lot) on one side and I on the other. That's what I have said to Kahookano. No one has objected.

Kaauwai, sworn, and stated, "I have seen Kahookano's land in Lahaina. Hoapili-wahine had given the land that work on it might be done for her and this paid for living there."
