No. 5192, Kauhane
N.R. 162-163v7

Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I have a claim in the Ahupua`a of Mapulehu by Island of Molokai. The name on the makai `ili is Kalapa, for Kawai; the name of the `ili on the mauka side is Papala, for Kahaka. The `ili below, or down wind, is Kahoonoho, for Mahoa, and the `ili to the eastward is Ainaiki, for Mahoe.

This `ili is 580 fathoms, on both sides, and the width is 45 fathoms on both sides.

Laa, the konohiki, gave it to Kekoa, and Kekoa gave it to me. I have lived in this `ili and cultivated it and gone to the po`alima labor days, but at this time am excused because of old age. Give me this 'ili - don't take it!
