To the Honorable Board of Commissioners, &c. &c., Gentlemen: The undersigned beg[s] leave to make known to your Board that he makes claim to that portion of land outside of his eastern wall, and running along the base of the Fort, promised to him by his Majesty, for damages done within his enclosure by his Excellency, Governor Kekuanaoa in enlarging the Fort wall in 1836. He also begs leave to enclose to you a protest of the same registered by John Ricord, Esquire, September 9th 1845.

The undersigned also begs leave to present you claim for ....

.... ure requested the undersigned to note this his Protest against the unlawful and improper invasion of his rights by said Mataio Kekuanaoa in order that the same may not be obscured by adverse possession.
In witness whereof I, the said Notary, in conjunction with the said declarant have hereto set my hand the day and year first above written.
