To the Land Commissioners, Privy Council, Greetings: I, the one whose name is below, hereby state my claim to you, which I got in the year 1837. It is a claim for taro land in the land of the konohikit whose name is Pao, in Kalihi uka in the `ili of Kaluaopalena on that side of Kalihi, Is-land of Oahu. The boundaries of this claim are: north, Pao's land, east, Kapakai's land, west, a pali. This is the claim for land which I got, as described above, in the year ....

Kaukoa, sworn, says he knows the land in dispute. The land of Kaelemakule was exchanged with the Government in 1848 for some koeles.

Kaelemakule left the land in 1848 and went to Koolau. I bought part of the land from the Government and have been cultivating it for some years. The remainder is nahelehele. No one belonging to Kaelemakule lives there now.
