Lehuanui, sworn, I have known the time he had received the land just as Ono has first stated and the incident of Kalama taking his land; however, I have not known the reason for this action. The konohiki would be the only person to know of Nika's misdoing.

Kawelo, who is the konohiki's assistant, had come and had stated the reason Kalama had taken the land away. He (Nika) had let the patches be overrun with weeds and had not utilized them gainfully for the konohiki. The man did not appear before the tax assessor because of the konohiki's action.
