To the Board of Commissioners &c &c Hanalei, island of Kauai, Nov 15, 1847

Gentlemen:
I herewith lay before you my claim to certain lands in the valley of Hanalei or its vicinity, island of Kauai¦which are the following, viz.

No. 1 First, a piece of land on the height of the north side of the entrance of the harbour¦called Kamomailai. There are 5 houses on it, some are enclosed, and the whole belong to me.

In connection with the above is a piece of about an acre in extent, in which are six kalo patches made by myself. It is near the first allotment where I reside.

No. 2 Second, a piece of land called Kuakea abreast of C. Titcombe's, containing according to Mr. Metcalf's survey 8 acres 144 rods. This land is entirely fenced; it has been ploughed & harrowed by me. I cultivated with potatoes, corn, beans &c, &c at considerable expense; it is occasionally subject to inundation and has no supply of water in dry weather. There is about two acres of kalo land attached.

Hoopau sworn by the Word of God and stated, I have seen John Kellet's property in Hanalei on Kauai which has a house site and some moo lands. The boundaries are the same as Paakahi has just stated here at Haena is the Hanalei River; makai, the beach; at Kalihi, a small stream and mauka is the pasture of Haalilio's property. There are eight houses on John Kellet's place, four of which are for him. Kaikioewa had given him this interest and he had lived there for twelve years; no one has objected to his house site.

3. Another land is at Kuakea in Hanalei close to Hanalei River. Two sides have been enclosed and the other sides are covered with the hau (tree). A house was there long ago but it has fallen down. The land had been used for planting beans and corn while he had been a resident there for twelve years and like those other lands Kaikioewa had given him this land at Kalihi where there is a cattle raising land, mauka is the Hanalei River, makai is pasture and he [it?] is in Haena.
