By this Patent, the Government of the Republic of Hawaii, makes known to all men, that It has this day granted and given unto C.E. Steel for the consideration of Four Hundred and Seventeen 00/100 ($417 00/[x) Dollars paid into the Exchequer, and for the further consideration of his having complied with the terms and conditions in Agreement of Sale dated February 13, 1895, all that piece of land situate at Laupahoehoe in the District of North Hilo, Island of Hawaii, and described as follows:

.... ; excepting and reserving to the Hawaiian Government all mineral or metalic Mines of every description.
To have and to hold the above granted Land in Fee Simple, unto the said C.E. Steel, his heirs and assigns forever.
In Witness Whereof, the President of the Republic of Hawaii has hereto set his hand and caused the Great Seal of the Republic to be hereunto affixed this 1st day of July 1898
