Kamehameha III, By the grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this His Royal Patent, makes known unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Benjamin F. Hardy for the consideration of Eleven hundred and twenty-eight 80/100 dollars paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that piece of Land, situated at Pauwela, Hamakualoa, in the Island of Maui, and described as follows:

Commencing at a stone in front of main road near Puaahookui Valley and running

.... heir rights, title or interest in the land hereby granted or any part or parcel thereof, submit the same to the judicial tribunals of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and abide by the final decisions of those tribunals, without seeking the intervention of any Foreign Nation or Representative, and in case he or they shall refuse as to do, his and their estate therein and all of his and their rights, title and interest therein, shall cease and determine, and the same shall be immediately forfeited and escheat to the Hawaiian Government.

In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand, and caused the Great Seal of the Hawaiian Islands to be affixed, at Honolulu, this 26th day of October, 1854.
