To the Honorable Board of Land Commissioners, Sirs. Gentlemen,
I wish to present the following claim to your attention. In the Year 1829 after Lord Russell's visit to these Islands, through & by the intercession of Mr. Richards, Kahumanu gave me a land through Kekauonohi, situated in the south part of the Town of Lahaina, called Paleiki. This land was owned by the Mother of his Majesty the present King; and I have to this time continued to hold it.

.... rrived in Lahaina late in the year 1828 or early in 1829, White was in residence there and he has lived in peace to this day. I believe the map of these lands is correct and it should be left as it is at this time.

Kekauonohi, sworn and stated, "I have seen J. White's land at Lahaina in Maui but it is not identical with the reports given by the first witnesses. It was not given during the time of Kamehameha I. I had given him his land at the time of Kamehameha III. That was the same time J. White was living with me and it was I who gave him land, the same land for which Kalaipaihala is contending with J. White. This land had become J. White's land when I had given it to him in the year 1831.
