To the Land Commissioners, Respectful Greetings: I hereby state my claim for land from the Mo`i and from the hands of the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Finance. From thence comes my true right and the expression of my real claim on the land for myself and my heirs forever. It is stated to you as follows:
Ohua `Ili, Waikele, Oahu That is my explanation to you.

Kuaihelani [No. 5762] vs Hana Haalilio [No. 6545], 18th December 1850
Niau, sworn, he has seen this place over which there is a dispute. The boundaries are just as Kuaihelani's witnesses have related. Niau had given this to Kuaihelani before 1843. He is his son-in-law and because he had no land on which to farm. Kuaihelani had asked Niau to give him a farming land. The konohiki was reluctant and when no land was forthcoming from him, Niau then went to Hana for the pasture. Hana aske ....

.... ven to him before this, but because of a desire on my part to do some planting, I had gone to ask Aiawa for the pasture. He told me then that it was given to my older brother, Kuaihelani. I heard this in 1845, perhaps it has been five years since that time.
The konohiki took this land in 1849. At present there are no plants on it. It is just overgrown with weeds.
I do not know anymore. This is all.
