Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby petition to enter my land claim in the Ahupua`a of Paunau.
There are two land areas named Kuaimanini and Lihue.
I will tell you of the ones from [which] I had `ilis: Makalawelawe, had it from Kaahumanu, and when Makalawelawe died, it passed to Kamanawa; I was under him, ....

Land received at the time of Kamehameha I, and Kahula has lived there since that time to the present, no one has objected. One Friday (land) had been from Makalawelawe who is the guardian of Kaahumanu and Kahula has always occupied (this interest).
