I, the one whose name is below, hereby state my claim for land which lies in the Ahupua`a of Waialua on the Island of Molokai.
There are 4 large lo`i and 17 small lo`i planted in hollows*, which sustain me and my wife and children. I have occupied the land for six years.

Kaluaikai, sworn, I live in the land of Kawa, Waialua. My land was from Pakaka in 1845. At that time, Kauaawa went. /He was/.the father-in-law of Kaheakulani, the one who had the land; Kaheakulani stayed on and cultivated this land, and we also with Kaheakulani, were the ones who cultivated it. His land was from me. He had quiet possession of this place until his death in 1848. This land was bequeathed to Kepaa, his wife, and Kauweoa, Kaauwaepaa and many other children. The children are now contending with Kepaa, but Kepaa bequeathed this land to me.
Kauaawa, sworn, I occupied this land a long time ago, in the time of Kamehameha I, until 1845 /when/ I left this land. Kepaa, my daughter, and her husband, Kaheakulani, stayed on, and when I departed, no one said I was dispossessed, and it was I who gave him his taro land, and he had quiet possession of it. I have no right to enter a claim; neither did I return the land which I had occupied to the Konohiki.
