To the Land Commissioners, Greetings: I hereby state my claim for land in the 'Ili of Kahaloa, Ahupua'a of Waikane, District 6, Division 2, Island of Oahu. Two taro lo'i at Kaaipuaa are from Puuweuweu. Three weed-grown lo'i at Kauaula are from Mahoe. Four taro lo'i, three kula and one breadfruit grove in the 'Ili of Mamane are from Opunui. One mala of coffee, one orange tree are in the 'Ili of Paa. These things are from Waipio. There is one house site. That is my petition on this 2nd day of January, 1848.

Kekoaehulukea, sworn says, I know the lands of the claimant in Waikane, Oahu. They consist of three [sic] pieces.
No. 1 is 2 lois in the moo of Kaaipua, in the ili of Kahalaa.
No. 2 is 4 lois in the Ili of Mamane.
No. 3 is a coffee field in the ili of Paa.
No. 4 is a field of breadfruit trees in Mamane.
No. 5 is a melon field.

We therefore most earnestly protest against the awarding of any claims included in our Royal Patent, not specially exempted in the instrument itself, as above set forth.
It is unnecessary for us to do more that faint [?point] at the confusion that must ensue, and the destruction of all confidence in land titles, if Royal Patents are allowed to be disturbed, and purchases of government land subjected to litigation and annoyance in maintaining their rights. There are points upon which every member of your Board will be able to pass a just opinion, and see their bearing.
We therefore submit the above fact, and make this our protest, in the full behalf that you will make no awards to conflict with the Royal Patent we hold, and for which we have paid the government a full and fair equivalent.
