Hear ye, ye Land Commissioners: I, Nawaiki, hereby state my claim. There are two ahupua`a, Makaiwa is one and Paapaaea is one, in which I am thinking of making a claim. I received the claim from Kaiho, who died, bequeathing to Kaukuna, who died, bequeathing to Kekauonohi, and I am /now/l under her. That is my claim to you for your consideration. The witnesses are Kaikala and Hulu.
Furthermore, I have a house lot a Hanawana. The witness ....

No. 1 is a house lot in the ahupuaa of Papaea.
No. 2 is a taro lot.
Claimant became konohiki (luna) of Papaea about the year 1836 and occupied these two pieces but for the remainder he only acted as luna under Kahekili, who was real owner of the whole ahupuaa.
The two places above named which I pointed out to Mr. Gower and which he surveyed are the true claim.
