Land Patent No. 8161 In Confirmation of Land Commission Award
Whereas, the Board of Commissioners to quiet Land Titles did by Land Commission Award No. 9971 Apana 20[?] award to W.P. Leleiohoku, an estate of Freehold less than Allodial in the land hereafter described,
And whereas proper application having been made to the Commissioner of Public Lands by F.S. Dodge on behalf of the Trustees under the Will of Bernice Pauhai Bishop, the present owner of the Ahupuaa of Puanui, in the District of Kohala, Island of Hawaii, for a Patent of the herein described land, and whereas a certificate of boundaries defining the same having been duly filed, and the Government Commutation in said Ahupuaa of Puanui has been released by resolution of the Privy Council May 27th, 1850, and by surrender of land recorded in Land Commission Awards Volume 10, page 614.
Therefore, the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii, in conformity with the Laws of the
United States of America and of the Territory of Hawaii, by this Patent makes known to all men that he has this day granted and confirmed absolutely, in Fee Simple, unto W.P. Leleiohoku, all of the land situate at Puanui Waimea, in the District of South Kohala, Island of Hawaii, bounded and described as follows:

.... a, Certificate #17, to a + cut in the naked rock by road at sea bluff known as Kahunalehu on South side of the cove known as Keawanui and from which point the Keawanui Triangulation Station bears South 21° 08' East true distant 2165.8 feet; thence along and down the sea bluff to the extreme point of a spur or projecting cape called Kaunanahu, on which is cut a + just above high water mark bearing South 81° 45' West distant 366.0 feet from the last station; thence following the windings of the seacoast at high [Page 267] water mark to a point opposite the initial point of this survey; thence up the sea bluff South 54° 48' East 202.0 feet to said initial point, the direct bearing and distance from the Kahunalehu station being
