Upon Confirmation by the Land Commission
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners to quiet Land Titles have by their decision awarded unto Pehu, Land Commission Award 5931 an estate of Freehold less than Allodial, in and to the land hereafter described, and whereas Charles Notley, the present owner of the Within described land has made proper application to the Minister of the Interior for a Royal Patent thereon, a certificate of the Boundaries of the same having been filed and the Government Commutation, Five Hundred $500 Dollars having been duly paid.
Therefore, Lunalilo Kalakaua, by the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known to all men, that he has, for himself and for his successors in office, this day granted and given absolutely, in Fee Simple, unto Pehu Part 2 all that certain piece of land situate at known as the Ahupuaa of Kukaiau, Hamakua in the Island of Hawaii, and described as follows:
The Northeast corner of this land at the sea beach is the centre of the Gulch dividing this land and the land known as Kaao. The boundary runs thence up the centre of said Gulch, which is called Kukaiau Gulch. The notes of survey are as follows and are run on the east side of the Gulch.

.... r />North 15° 34' East 502 links, from this station Government station on Piele bears South 36.2 West.
North 11° 9' West 326 links along West side of Gulch;
North 8° 37' East 952 links crossing the Gulch to East terrace to a point just below the junction of the forks of Gulch, the lower end of Kainehe being at the junction. Thence, from the lower end of Kainehe, down the Gulch which is the boundary between this Land and Kohoalele.
North 19° East 24 chains to the sea (in the centre of the Gulch 55 links from the pali overhanging the sea a mark thus [up arrow] is on a large Rock). Thence from the East side of the Gulch, which is called Kalapahapuu;
South 59° 30' East 6000 links along the sea shore to the point of commencement.
Area contained 6,188 acres, more or less.
Containing Six Thousand One Hundred and Eighty-Eight Acres, more or less, excepting and reserving to the Hawaiian Government all mineral or metallic mines of every description.
To Have and to Hold the above granted Land in Fee Simple, unto the said Pehu, Heirs and Assigns forever, subject to taxes to be from time to time imposed by the Legislative Council, equally upon all Landed Property held in Fee Simple.
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the Great Seal of the Hawaiian Islands to be affixed, this 25th day of May 1882.
