Royal Patent upon Confirmation of the Land Commission
Whereas the Board of Commissioners to Quiet Land Titles have by their decision awarded to Mose Kekuaiwa (no M. Kekuanaoa), Kuleana Helu 7714B, an Estate less than Freehold less than Alodial, in and to the land hereafter described, and whereas and by a Resolution of the Privy Council, during the reign of His Majesty, Kamehameha III, the Government Commutation, on all lands belonging to the said Mose Kekuaiwa was relinquished.
Therefore, Lunalilo Kalakaua, by the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known to all men, that he has, for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Mose Kekuaiwa (no M. Kekuanaoa) all that certain piece of land situate atknown as the Ahupuaa of Koloa Komohana in the District of Kona, in the Island of Kauai, and described as follows:
The Southeast corner of this land commences on the beach (adjoining the Southwest corner of the Government Land of Weliweli) at place called "Paapoko" from thence the following places bear:
A sharp peak on the land of Makaweli North 24° 48" West
A conical hill on Kalaheo North 74° 08" West, true readings
Variation 9° 22 East, true readings
Spire of Church North 26° 00" West, true readings
Laukahi Peak North ....

Containing an area of 8620 Acres more or less; excepting and reserving to the Hawaiian Government, all mineral or metallic mines of every description.
To have and to hold the above granted Land in Fee Simple, unto the said Mose Kekuaiwa (no M. Kekuanaoa), his heirs and assigns forever, subject to the taxes to be from time to time imposed by the Legislative Council, equally upon all Landed Property held in Fee Simple.
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the Hawaiian Islands to be affixed this fifth (5th) day of October 1875.
