Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I have some land in an 'ili in the Ahupua'a of Halawa on the Island of Molokai. The name /of the /ili/ is Kii, and a fifth of this entire 'ili is my claim.
The 'ili of Puupa, for Nakua, is on the makai side. Kalawaia, who has many children, is makai of my place. I have one mo'o makai of his /Kalawaia's/ claim, he is mauka. That is his /Kalawaia's/ claim which is stated here.
From the time of Paia the Second I have been on this claim. On his death it passed to Timoteo, the present konohiki. Paia gave it to Kaahui, and Kaahui gave it to my makuahine, and my makuakane ga ....

Kamai's father lived there in 1838, at the time of Hoapili and he (father) had given to Kamai. He
has been retained by the (land commissioners) overseers on a very fixed claim.
