To the Land Commissioners, Greetings: I hereby state my claim of occupancy from ancient times.
Here is this claim. In the time of Kamehameha I, Namahana lived at Honokawai and gave the 'Ili of Moomuku to me, at the time when she received it from her kane. I occupied it and when Namahana died, my 'Ili went to Hauna, but he/she was my foster child, I was the landlord. When Hauna died it went to Hoapili wahine and I dwelt under her and on her death it went to Kuakini, who gave it to David Malo, and I dwelt under him. Kuakini died, and I am living under David Malo. My right continued under all the lords, and /from the/ hakuones of the land I received my sustenance and benefits and so I live until this day.
