Hear ye, 0 Land Commissioners I am telling you and swear that I am conveying to my makuakane, Helehewa. He is the one to whom all the claims should be made out, to my kuleana at Leleo on the island of Oahu; he will work with you. I. Kainaina, am the heir to the kuleana of my kupunakane, Kauhaikane. It was Kamehameha I who gave it to my kupunakane when the Battle of Nuuanu was over. Further, there
are some witnesses to my conveying to Helehewa.

Chapel Street runs through this land. It formerly belonged to Kamakane who got it from Kamehameha 1st. Claimant got it from his father, Kalauka. Kamakane died 1822. Kaaiawaawa occup ....

No. 192, J. Piikoi, Kainaina, From pg. 309, September 29 [1847]
Piikoi vs. Kainaina in the name of the King Kamehameha III for the land of Kaiawaawa which is from the king.
Kahele 2 (Kahelehele), sworn by the Word of God and stated, I have seen and have heard also that Kaaiawaawa is living there now and the king had given him this interest at Lahaina in the year 1841.
When Kulauka was dying, he was taken to Oloalu and Kalili was sent to fetch Liliha, so we all went and upon reaching Kulauka bequested this property to Liliha and the other property at Hilo to his wife and children. Liliha was given custody of the wife and children and with her rested the right and the wrong. I have not known about the king giving that property to Kaaiawaawa and I think his interest in this property has been thro' his marriage to Kulauku's wife and this was a grave side bequest of this land.
