Greetings to the Land Commissioners. I, a subject on the island of Kauai, hereby state to you, the Land Commissioners, my claim for land at Hanalei, /named/ Kaapiki. The right was acquired as follows:
It was from my kupunas, to my makuas, and then to myself. My kupunas are below that said land claim /are buried there(?)/. It measures six chains on the north and also on the south and 3 chains on the east and also the west. That is what I state to you, for you to award.

The witnesses are Silomona, Nahiaulu, Koloakea, Makileilei.

House site from Kalakala's parents and there are orange trees there at present. Although Kalakala's parents had left this place some time ago the land is still theirs since the time of Kaahumanu. Therefore, the witness feels the oranges are for Kalakala. The taro lois had been from the Konohiki in 1839, no disputes to the present time.
Kalowakea, sworn, he has seen Kalakala's land in the same way as Kawainui has related here.
