To the Commission to Quiet land Titles at Hale Kauwila, greetings: I, a man of the island of Kauai, hereby state my claim for land /which is from/ the time of Kaumualii until this day when it is stated to you, the Commissioners to quiet land titles whom the Mo`i has appointed to confirm the titles. The Makuas lived at this place from ancient times and it has been held until myself, an old man at this time, and I have lived here perhaps forty years or more. Therefore I firmly believe I have the right, to pass on to my son, if you will award it.< ....

Taro land from Ihu who was Konohiki of Hanalei in 1839. House lot received during the time of Kaumualii, Paaiki's parent had probably received it before this time in 1834. No objections to Paaiki.
