Gentlemen: I herewith submit for your decision claims that I have on lands given me by His Excellency, the late Kuakini in 1831, situated on Hawaii in district of Kona, Village of Holualoa:
1. A house lot in said village which has never been surveyed. My claim I consider good from having paid His Excellency 100 dollars to thatch the house thereon. I have also proof that he gave me full permission to build 1 house.
2. A tract on Ahupuaa in area of said village called Kupoamaka which has not been surveyed.
The above land was an unconditional grant from His Excellency, Kuakini. I have from time to time paid him money amounting in all to 245 dollars as a tax for said land up to the time of his death.

Samuel Rice, sworn by the Word of God and stated, I have seen the piece of house lot for John G. Munu. it is at Holualoa and it has been enclosed, with four houses in there. Kama is living there under John G. Munu, with his wife, Kanekapolei by name. The fence which is standing there now is its boundary. John G. Munu had received this interest from Kuakini in the year 1831 and they are the ones who have lived there to the present time; no one else owns that property. I have not known how Kuakini had received his place, but I had personally seen John G. Munu give $100.00 to thatch the house that is standing there.
2) I have seen the piece of property which is toward the mountain of this house lot, but I have not known the boundaries of Kapoalomaka. Kuakini had given this land just after the granting of the house lot. John G. Munu then had given $40.00 and I had taken it to Kuakini. I have not seen any other interest there. The distance from my place to this place is about two miles or more.
