The Land Commissioners, greetings to you: I, Eke Opunui, a Hawaiian subject living in Koloa, on the island of Kauai, hereby state my claim for land. my claims, however, are not situated in one place, some are at Koloa and some are at Huleia, and some are at Nawiliwili. my claims for Koloa consist of five loi at Wailaau, whose circumference is eight chains and seven fathoms. Also, on the boundary of Koloa with Kaohe /at a place/ named Kahooleinapea, are six loi altogether, whose circumference is sixteen chains and six fathoms.

My claim at Huleia is named Kalaniuli. There are twenty loi, bounded on the north by a pali, on the east by a mound, on the south and west by a stream ....
