N.R. 39-40v6
To the Land Commissioners: We, whose names are below, hereby state our claim for a house lot to you. We built the house, fenced the lot and planted and improved it. Here are the ones from whom we received our house lot: Pamaeulu of Puou gave it absolutely to Lauaina who possessed it, and on the death of Kalaimoku it was bequeathed to Kaeo.Kaeo /gave it/ to us, and our place was set apart to occupy as our makuas had done - that was his right which he gave to us, until this day.
