No. 103, Naopala, Honolulu, July 6, 1846
To the Land Commissioners: In accordance with the law of 1845 1 am claiming my kuleana in the city of Honolulu on Oahu.
I hereby testify that the place which I ask for, was given me by Kuakini as a residence, and I installed my friend Komo In the same lot, and his wahine, named Pihea and some persons of mine who were living on my lot, and they all lived under me. After some years passed with Komo living there, he said to me and our wahina /maua -we two/, "I am sailing to Kahiki, here is the lot, the house and our wahine /kaua-yours and mine/. She will live with you and these are your people, for the ocean is doubly a mountain /meaning he might be lost/ where I am going. I agreed with him and when he sailed I lived there with our wahine - we were the ones who lived on this lot. Then I heard of the death of my friend Komo, in sailing to Kahiki and I thought of all our words, with our wahine.
After a while Pihea returned the lot to me; I said, live with the punalua, and broke the fence I had brought and made. That one agreed and after awhile she came back again to explain that ....

.... of Kapuukolo. Paniani is on the south end; a small road on the east; the lot on the north is for Wallker and that is the lot Aluli is living on at the present time and the lot on the western side is for Pulehua. I had seen Naopala living there at the time of Kuakini. Naopala's interest had been from Kuakini. I do not know the number of years and the time he was separated and later Naopala had given (land) to Komo who is Naopala's young brother Naopala was living at some other locality and he felt that Pihea should live there because that was her place. I have not known that Kahanu had any interest there. It was Pihea who had built the fence and the houses.
Kalima, sworn by the Bible and stated, I had lived there through Naopala. Komo and Naopala had gone to ask Kuakini. After Komo had gone to England, Naopala had come to ask me to go and live with them there and I think I lived there for two or three years. Naopala did not live there all the time. Paele, Pihea and I were the people who lived there always. Pihea is Kahanu's interest there, she is the wife of Komo. I have a house there and I live under Naopalo and Pihea. The lumber and all of the furnishings of the house standing at the present time are mine.
