Opunui, sworn, knows Claimant's lands.
These lands are the old possession of Kaumualii, Claimant's wife from her ancestors, from Kaeo, the old King. They fell to Kaumualii, who left them to his Sister Kaihinea & she to her daughter Kauukualii, who held them in peace till 1846. When Kauai fell to the windward chiefs in [the] time of Kaumualii these lands remained in quiet possession of Kauukualii's family & in the rebellion of 1824 were not disturbed, nor ever till 1846 when Kekuanaoa took possession of the Ahupuaa of Makaweli, but without consent of Kaua ....

.... d while her son of Kanai lived at Kahalaia. Ahukai had Makaweli until the rebellion of Kauai on 8 Aug. 1824. Kalaimoku bequested the land to Kinau, and Ahukai continued to live in Makaweli until 1840, under the same conditions he had received from his grandparents. At this time Kekuanaoa takes Makaweli ahupuaa; however, Ahukai lived there peacefully to 1846 and Kekuanaoa stirred again, but Kauukualii has remained unshaken to the present time. No disputes for section 2.
