To the Land Commissioners: I, Kahakualoa, have a claim for land at Paalaa, Waialua, one land. This land was from Kamehameha I to Namahana and to Keawepooole, to my makuahine, who left it to me, and I am the one who had the right to the land continuously, since before the coming of the Missionaries.
1. The name is Kalie, the upland and kula is Pakiki, and the shore is Kapapale - these are the edges /boundaries/ of Kalie. This land was from my makuas. But I desire to secure an award document for myself, since this land was conveyed properly to me. Kaahumanu was over me and I was the house dweller. When my makuahine died I went to Kinau to speak to her of the land, and Kinau returned the land to me. This was the land on which I became an old woman with many children, and no fault had been found with me. After this, Kinau died, and life on the land continued. After this, Kekuanaoa took the land, in the year l840. There was no reason for finding fault with me - the annual tribute had been well taken care of, it had not been reduced, but I heard it was a wrong doing by one of my keikis; this was the reason for fault being found, although I did not agree that this was the right thing. I desire to have this land returned to me for me and my children, to be protected under the Seal of the Government.

Keawepooole had lived there until his death and had bequested this land to his daughter. Kahakualoa. where she had lived until she was separated from the land during Kinau's reign. She has been desitute since that time to the present without land, for Kinau has given that land to J. Kaeo and he has worked on it; however, when he had gone to Kauai with Kekauonohi, Kekuanaoa took the land away from him because Kaeo had left him. He also had taken the food products of the Friday area without paying for them, thus Kekuanaoa had never realized any value from the Friday yield. The land has been with M. Kekuanaoa to the present time.
