To the Land Commissioners: I have four lands in Laie in Koolauloa. The first is named Kapuna, there are ten lo`i, bounded on the north by the lo`is of Nahulu and Kanakanui, on the east by the lo`is of Maii, on the south by kula, on the west by Kihewa. 2. The name is Puhau, on the east, Kionaole, south, Naholua, west, Naueloli. The third is a house lot, surrounded by a fence by myself. It was from my makuas, from the time of Kamehameha I, to us. The fourth is a kula planted in wauke from Kamaikahulipu ma.
I wish for an award document for myself.

Keliiwaiwaiole, sworn says, Pia died in 1848. leaving his property to his wife. Witness knows the land claimed by Pia in Laie.
It consists of one kalo patch, bounded on:
Hauula side and Mauka by the Konohiki
Waialua side by Kauaikaua's land

.... the reason for the konohiki's objections. I have not seen the tenants do poalima work at this time in the Pond, Pia's wife does the cultivation of the patch and the yield therefrom is for her.

Question: "Did you know the konohiki's claim for this pond?"
Answer: "The konohiki has no claim."
Question: "Did you see Koolua and Keelualani, his wife cultivating in that pond?"
Answer: "No."
Question: "Did you know this is a spring for Laie?"
Answer: "I have known it as a spring for all of Laie."
Naakeu, sworn, I have known that this was Pia's pond from 1838 to the present time. I had not known until October 1850 about the konohiki's opposition in 1838 and I do not know the reason for the objection, but I have heard this patche had been given to him (Pia) as a husbandman.
