Kamehameha III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Hermann Wessel, his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred and Eighty five Dollars ($885.00) paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that certain piece of Land situated at Kaiwiki first & second, Hilo in the Island of Hawaii and described as follows:

Commencing at the extreme Eastern point of the land Kaiwi 1st at the junction of the stream Honolii and Maili, below the pali in the gulch of Honolii, thence following up the stream Maili by the following courses & distances
