Kamehameha III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this his Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Joseph Gardner, his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of Thirty-Three and 47/100th Dollars, paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that certain piece of Land situated at Kiala, Koolau in the Island of Kauai and described as follows:
Commencing at a stake on the bank at the North corner of this, and running
South 47° West 20 Chains to a Puhala tree, thence
South 57° East 1.68 Chains to stake on bank, thence
