Kamehameha III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto John Ely, his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of One Hundred & One 1/4 Dollars ($101.25), paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that certain piece of Land situated at Kahua (north), Hilo in the Island of Oahu Hawaii and described as follows:
Commencing at stake at makai East boundary of this land joining Middle Kahua, juat makai of John Ely's dwelling house and running
North 52° 45' West 10 Chains 20 feet along makai side of this land to maiddle of stream seperating this from land called Makea, then from point of commencement and running
South 45° 30' West 5 Chains to Lauhala in Pa puaa on South edge of Coffee Plantation, thence
South 35° West 11 Chains 26 4/12 feet to Lauhala marked A on right edge of path, thence
South 36° 45' West 5 Chains 10 feet to point by path, thence
South 63° West 2 Chains 26 4/12 feet to main road ....
