Kamehameha III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Benjamin Pitman, his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of Three Hundred and Sixteen Dollars ($316.), paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that certain piece of Land situated at Puueo, Hilo in the Island of Hawaii and described as follows:

The upper or South Western survey commences at the Western corner of Pitman's Patent, on the stream of Pukihae seperating [sic] this land from Kalalau following up the stream to a point immediately below a Lauhala tree marked A, standing 2 Chains from the edge of the pali by the following courses and distances
South 45° West 6 Chains 30 feet to head of a small gulch, thence
North 78° 45' West to point below Lauhala tree marked A, 1 Chain 24 feet, thence running across this land to a stake on the Northern side of Wailuku river
South 3° West 60 Chains 30 feet, thence down and along on the top of the pali on the Northern side of Wailuku river to stake at the extreme South Western corner of Mr. Miller's patent by the following courses and distances
North 83° 30' East 8 Chains 18 feet, thence East 7 Chains to stake ....
