Kamehameha III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Charles E. Starkey his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of Ninety Dollar, paid into the Royal Exchequer, all that certain piece of Land situated at Koloa, in the Island of Kauai, and described as follows:
Commencing at stake at South East corner of this land near stream, at intersection of roads, and running
North 27° West 6 Chains 43 feet along road to slight bend, thence
North 2° 30' West 4 Chains 23 feet to bridge over Omao stream, thence
North 18° West 8 Chains 10 feet along Omao stream to bend, thence
South 80° 15' West 3 Chains to bend of stream, thence
North 18° 45' West 5 Chains 23 feet along stream to bend ....
