To the Land Commissioners: `Ili Laimi, Honolulu uka. Greetings to you all: I, the undersigned, hereby tell of my claim for my eight lo`i situated in one place: on the west is the irrigation ditch, on the south is the lo`i of Keopu, on the east is the stream and the road. On the north of the road is a kula cultivated in sweet potato at the pali, within the lots on the west is the fence, on the north is the kula of Nawai, on the south is the kula of Honokaia, on the east is the kula of Makaokahaku. My claim is ended.

.... in 1844. I had departed from this land because I had wanted to live with Kale; therefore, I had returned those lands to Kiki, the overseer of the land. Kiki had said, "Go and get a replacement in my place!" Finally Kupalii was found and he has cultivated this land under Lililehua and has attended konohiki day /work/. I believe this is indeed Lililehua's interest and that the sale between Kaeo and Kale is void because Kaeo's reasong for taking this land was not been known. There has been no offense.
Waha, sworn, I had heard Kiki say that Makaio had left and Kupalii was found to take Makaio's place as a servant, yet it was Lililehua who had placed Kupalii there, so I think this land is for Lililehua. The sale between Kaeo and Kale was not proper.
