No. 1285, Kalua`u, Honolulu, November 2, 1847
N.R. 56v3
Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby tell you of my house lot claim, at Kaoawai, in Honolulu. Kapaalua gave me this place for a house lot and afterwards gave me the land truly. This was when Kinau was living. I built a house for myself and lived there with my people. Some died, and some went to another place; my first house fell and I built another. Now at this time, Kapaalua denies that this is my place, yet it was he who gave me this place formerly and he was the reason for my residing here. This is what I am telling you for your consideration. We have five lo`i at Kapahaha which wre have held peacefully under the konohiki. We have one lo`i at Kahawali o Kaeo which was given us by our keiki.

.... eopu's land
Alapai's land, Waikiki
Nalimu's land, makai
Alapai's land, Ewa.
Sections I and II, IV, V and VI are from Kapaalua and section III is from Kahina.
All of these places were acquired at the same time that was during Kinau's lifetime, probably in the year 1836. An objection has only been for the house lot which is section 1.
There has been peace to the present time for the rest of the lands; no one has objected.
The hearing of Kapaalua's claim in the land of Kaluau has been postponed to Wednesday morning at ten o"clock. See page 266 of this vol.
