To the Land Commissioners, Greetings in the name of God: I, the undersigned, hereby tell you of my land claim in the `ili of Kaalawai, adjoining the District of Waikiki Waena. There are three lo`i bounded on the north by the mo`o of Kahonu; on the northeast by the lo`i of Kekukahiko; on the southeast by the land of Napahi; on the west by Waiaala. One lo`i is bounded on the north by the stream; on the northeast by the mo`o of Peniaiu /illegible/; on the southeast by an irrigation ditch; on the west by Pulehu. Two of my lo`i are in the `ili of Maulikikepa next to Kamooiliili, Waikiki waena. They are bounded on the north by the `ili of Kuluwailehua ....

Sections II, III and IV of Kauhane's land are from me, given in the year 1842. I am the konohiki under the King for this land. Section I was a land overgrown with weeds in the year 1842; Kaauwai is the konohiki."

Kauuwai, sworn and stated, "I have seen this property just as Kekukahiko has related here. I have not made any objections to him."
