To the Land Commissioners, Greetings: I hereby tell you of my land claim in the `ili `aina at Kamaao in Hono-lulu, adjoining Kaaleo. It is a taro mo`o `aina; on the east is Makailuuwai's place, on the south is Kewalo, on the west and north is Kapa-ka's place.

Paoa, sworn, This land is in Honolulu aina, called Kaleo. Kalo land without a house, containing about 6 kalo patches, bounded:
Mauka by Piikoi's kalo land
Waititi by the same
Makai by Kinimaka, Ewa also.
Claimant got this land from Kinimaka in ti ....

.... as bequested to his (Umauma) wife, Iliaka. After she had lived there for a while, she returned the place to Kinimaka and he has had it since, 1849 to the present time. Recently, on November 7th past, Iliaka gave Kinimaka a permanent deed for her husband's interest. No one has ever objected to this claim from the beginning to this day. See page 71 of this book for Iliaka's deed.
Manoa, sworn, I have known about this place in the same way as Puniwai has related here. I am one of the witnessess for the return of this claim to Kinimaka by Iliaka and my signature is attached to her agreement document. Kahina and I are the witnesses with our signatures.
