To the President and the other, Land Commissioners appointed by the Mo`i, who quiet titles in the Hawaiian Islands:
As directed in the Law, I, the undersigned, am a claimant for the house lot in which I live at this time, in Koleaka, upper Honolulu, of which you, William L. Lee, the President, and the other commissioners, may consider the validity.
I am, with thanks, your obedient servant.

Kekuanaoa, sworn, This land is in Honolulu aina. It is a house lot, bounded:
Mauka by Kalehua's place
Waititi by the same with a path between leading to Paoa< ....

.... said, "I have not heard that Kekualoa had given a small parcel of Iona's interest to Kapena and I have not heard them speak of that small piece of land, but I think it was for Kapena, perhaps or probably for Mary; however, Kapena's land is from me which I had received from Kanina. I had given this small interest to Kapena during Liholiho's time and it has been a year and a half since Mary has had possession of this small parcel. Kapena has the care of this place."
Kekualoa, sworn and stated, "I had given Kapena's small parcel to Mary, but I have forgotten the year this was done. That was my own land and no one had cultivated it previously." See page 101
