To the President of the Land Commissioners, William Lee, Greetings: I, the undersigned, am the claimant of a house lot in Honolulu. The true and genuine right will be explained, which was the occupancy from the time of Kamehameha I until now, with no objections, and we have lived in peace at this place, as in the law, enacted by the Mo`i in the year 1839 stating that the persons and property of the people shall be protected. however, I see that the law has not been fulfilled, in my case, therefore it would be proper for you to consider this. A certain side of my truly rightful property has been taken by Thomas Phillips, my tenant who lives under my authority. He only had occupancy of the house, - I am the konohiki of the house lot, but that person took it without my consent and without my having done him any wrong.
However, it is proper for me to explain the claim which Thomas Phillips has made, in this letter. Wawaiole was the one who lived in this ....

Kealoha's houselot and Akomi's houselot Waikiki
Merchant street oceanside and
Kea (Alakea) street Ewa.
No.] 2. And the boundaries of section two are:
Chapel street, toward the mountain
Alakea street Waikiki
Pilipi's place, toward the sea and
Kalaimoku's place, Ewa.
These two lots are fenced. There are four houses on the section which is slightly toward the mountain and three houses are on the section which is toward the sea. These houses are for Koiamai and he is living there now. Kaleohano had bequested this interest to Koiamai in the year 1829 because he, Koiamai, is the husband of Kaleohano's sister. This was done at the time Poki was leaving on a trip."
Namauu, sworn and stated, "I have seen this property exactly as Maalahia (has seen it)."
