No.15

1873, Boundary of Manuahi in Hanapepe, Honolulu, 29th April 1873

Honorable D. McBryde, Commissioner of Boundaries, Kauai

Dear Sir
I have respectfully to request that you will at your convenience define and settle the boundaries of the land known as Lumahai in Hanalei Kauai, it is bounded on one side by Wainiha belonging to a company of natives and on the other side by lands Waikoko and Waipa owned or leased by Mr. Wilson, and makai by the sea.

Perhaps you will set a time for the hearing that will suit the convenience of Mr. Gay, the Surveyor, and I am in no hurry to have it done. The owners of the adjoining lands ought I think to share in the expence [sic] of the ajustment [sic] of dividing lines.

If the Messrs Sinclairs and others who may have lands joining his Majesty's land of Manuahi; leased to Mr. Knudsen; will apply to have the boundaries settled or share in the expence you will please settle and define that land also. It was surveyed by the late Mr. Pease and I will send you a copy of his work in a short time.
Very truly yours
C.R. Bishop

P.S. April 30
Yours of the 25 instant is at hand. Mr. Gay has been sick but is now better and will go to Kauai in a few days. I will pay for the settlement of the boundaries of Piloa and Waipouli when you send your bill. I will enclose the survey of Manuahi now but I am in no hurry about the settlement of its boundaries.
