Land claim
I, Maunahina, hereby petition you, the Land Commissioners. here is the reason for my
petition. I will tell you of some houselots which I have a right in, which have gone to someone else. The lot of Kamakea on Hawaii is erroneous. I am the heir of Kamakea, his kaikamahine. Nahienaena was the chiefess. However, Keawe has it at this time, not me.
Second: The house site of Paea at Luaehu. I, the grandchild, am the heir, yet it is Kanaina's at this time, not mine, hence my petition.

D. Malo, sworn, Nahienaena took all of these places from Waiannaeni to Puako for farming. When farming was stopped, it (property) was thought to be used for servants and Piho originated the idea to have the place for the stewards. They lived under the control of Nahienaena and she gave that property to Piho. When Piho died he willed it to Maunahina. Hoapili had given these lots to Kekauluohi and this created a problem. Maunahina gave up the lots except for two (of them).
