Sir:
On behalf of the Estate of Bernice P. Bishop, the owner of the ahupuaa of Palama, Land Commission Award 7741B [7714B] issued to M. Kekuaiwa & inclusive of the ili-aina of Kalaepohaku, Land Commission Award 7713 to Victoria Kamamalu, the whole now belonging to the Estate of Bernice P. Bishop.

We would, as the Trustees of said Estate, respectfully ask, that a day may be appointed for the hearing of the evidence, as to the proper boundaries & settlement of same.

The following are to the best of our knowledge the owners of adjoining lands.

His Majesty, Kalakaua, owner of the ili of Mokauea, the Hawaiian government,

The Estate of Queen Emma, Waolani
The Estate of William Harbottle, Kuleana
The Commissioners of Crown lands

Application having been made to me by Charles R. Bishop and S.M. Damon on behalf of Estate of Bernice P. Bishop for the settlement of the boundaries of the ahupuaa of Palama, Land Commission Award 7741B [7714B], inclusive of the Ili-aina of Kalaepohaku, Land Commission Award 7713, both situated in the district of Kona, Island of Oahu.

Notice is hereby given to all adjoining owners and to all persons interested to the settlement of said boundaries, that the said matter will come on for hearing on Wednesday, the 16th day of June, 1886 at 1:00 p.m. at my office, Police Court building, Merchant Street, Honolulu.

the matter came on for hearing at Police Court, Honolulu, on Wednesday, June 16th 1886.

Present: Mr. Whiting, J.F. Brown, S.M. Damon, and others, William Wond, interpreter

J.F. Brown, sworn, states, I know the land of Kapalama and know the boundaries, this map represents the Ahupua [sic] of Kapalama. I surveyed Mokauea, joining this land. I surveyed the whole line between Kalihi & Kapalama; the boundaries makai of the Government road is settled by Land Commission Award 6450. Above the road for about half a mile, boundary joins Land Commission Awards and Grants in Kalihi, which is shown in Government maps of Kalihi made by myself, that line is indicated on the map of Kapalama, from Mokauea Station to the head of Kapalama the boundary follows a sharp well known natural boundary [page 182] or ridge the whole distance, from head down to head of Alewa. I do not know the boundary, but there is a ridge all the way down the boundary along Alewa, as shown in old survey of Makalena; on behalf of Hawaiian Government I approve the the [sic] boundary as indicated on this map, below Alewa on Honolulu side between Alewa and the sea line, the boundary is substantialy [sic substantially ] as given in old Survey by A. Bishop and is almost entirely along Kuleanas. I am not positive of any Leles, but Bishops old survey shows a small piece of Iwilei apart from main land, the fishery is indicated on the old map, joining Kapalama & loko of Ananoho. The Ili of Kalaepohako is in Kapalama. I based my survey principally on old surveys & Grants and Kuleanas. The natives generally stated the boundary in upper ....

North 85° 30' East 249 feet along the Sea Shore to the West angle of Kuapa wall of Loko Kuwili 2nd;
