Ahupuaa of Waipouli
Received the following Petition
Honolulu, August 28th 1872
To the Honorable Duncan McBryde, Commissioner of Boundaries &c &c Island of Kauai
The undersigned Guardians of the person and property of William C. Lunalilo would respectfully ask that the Boundaries of the Ahupuaa of Waipouli situated in the District of Puna, Island of Kauai may be defined and settled. The Survey and notes are herewith filed.
The land of Waipouli is bounded on the North by Kapaa belonging to the Crown, South by Olohena belonging to Kiaimoku and by the Sea
Signed, Chas R. Bishop, Chas Kanaina, Guardians of W. C. Lunalilo
Thereupon appointed the 7th day of November 1872 for the hearing of said petition at Waipouli, and caused due notice to be served on the owners of the several lands

The following witnesses were then sworn Pahuwai, Hoolepu, Kaihee, Hulule and from their evidence now on file the following decisions was rendered, and survey ordered.
Ahupuaa of Waipouli
Decision in reference to the boundary of the Ahupuaa of Waipouli by Duncan McBryde Commissioners of Boundaries 7th November 1872.
Commencing at Northeast corner of land on sea shore at a hole in rocks called Kaluapalepo thence to pathway near marsh called Heahu, thence to Water pool Makahaokupanihi, thence to auwai Kololoku[?] thence to stone Pohakuhinana, thence to a stone Pohopohoiki thence to ridge Hulumoa, thence to Puakii near hau trees, thence past an old kukui tree across stream to hau [page 22] clumps called Kalouulu thence to top of ridge Hinaimahamakani thence to site of old houses Panene, thence to Kaukahoku, thence to stream Kawaiholana, thence to old houses Kapukaili, thence to ....

North 72° 36' West 3750 links crossing a rough gully and on to spur called Kapapa. Thence North 55? 15' West 2200 up Kapapa ridge to tree at the edge of the forrest and called "Laauwahia"; Thence
North 37° 40' West 6450 up through thick forrest to big Ohia tree at the head of this land and called Kahilimalanai, and containing an area of Two thousand Nine hundred and sixty-six acres more or less (2.966 acres)
At all the stations on this survey there has been a bottle put in the ground and broken and round which three stones in three holes have been dug thus [diagram upside down triangle of stones with bottle in center]
The bearings noted here are from true north of starting point for further information refer to plan.
I hereby certify this to be a correct survey of the boundaries of this land as decided upon by Hon. D. McBryde, Commissioner of Boundaries for Kauai.
