Hilo, Hawaii, April 27th 1899
The Commission of boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, 3d & 4th Judicial Circuits of the Hawaiian Islands met at the Hilo Court House at 1 p.m. after notice has been personally served on the owners of the adjoining lands, and also by publishing Notice of the time of hearing, for three weeks in the English and Hawaiian Languages in the Hawaii Herald.
The following letter having been received.

Dear Sir:
I regret to say that Mr. F.S. Dodge, our Land Agent, is still seriously indisposed and will be unable to appear for the Estate at the Hearings in re Boundary Certificates of Pahoehoe, Kauaea, and Kaueleau set by you for 27th and 28th instants.

If possible we would ask that said Hearings be delayed for at least one month's time, when I hope Mr. Dodge will be able to be in attendance.
Regretting this unavoidable delay, I remain

The commission of boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, 3d & 4th Judicial Circuits, Hawaiian Islands, met at Court House, Hilo, Hawaii, by adjournment from the 9th of November 1899.
Petition read as follows:

Dear Sir:
On behalf of the Trustees under the Will of Bernice Pauahi Bishop, I hereby make application for the settlement of the boundaries of the land of Kaueleau, Puna, Hawaii, Land Commission Award 7713, Apana 13 to V. Kamamalu, and also for the reopening of the case of Kauaea, Land Commission Award 7713, Apana 14, for the correction of certain errors in the survey.

The map and surveys have been made by Mr. A.B. Loebenstien, and will be sent to you if needed. He has also sent me the following list of adjoining properties with the present owners, as far as known.
See list attached.

Following the reading of this Petition
J.T. Stacker, sworn (as to Publication of Notice of hearing), I am the Manager of the Hawaii Herald Publishing Co., Ltd. And this Company edits the Hawaii Herald at Hilo, Hawaii. Until lately it was published in both the English and Hawaiian Languages.

I find on examining the files of the Hawaii Herald, that notice for the Hearing for the settlement of Boundaries of Kauaea were published in the English and Hawaiian Languages in the Hawaii Herald of April 6, April 13th & April 20th 1899, as follows: in English:

Notice of Commissioner of Boundaries
Notice is hereby given that Frank S. Dodge, Land Agent for the Estate of Bernice P. Bishop, has filed application for the settlement of the Boundaries of Kauaea, Puna, Hawaii, Fourth Judicial Circuit, and that Certificate of Boundaries of said land be issued. It is hereby ordered that all parties interested in the Boundaries of Kauaea, appear before me at the Court House, South Hilo, Hawaii, at 1 p.m. April 27, 1899, and show cause, if any, why said petition should not be granted.

Containing an area of 1568 acres more or less.

It is therefore adjudged and I do hereby certify and decide that the boundaries of said land of Kauaea are, and hereafter shall be as hereinbefore set forth, and that Certificate of Boundaries No. 88 is hereby cancelled and set aside.
