The Ahupuaa of Puaa 1st, District of North Kona, Hawaii, Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit
On this 12th day of August A.D. 1873 the Commission of boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit met at Kailua, North Kona, Hawaii for the hearing of the application of J.O. Dominis, Administrator of the Estate of Kamehameha V for the settlement of the boundaries of Puaa situated in North Kona, Island of Hawaii.
Notice to all parties interested in the settlement of boundaries of lands in North and South Kona, Hawaii, that the Commissioner of Boundaries for the 3d Judicial Circuit would be prepared to receive applications for the settlement of boundaries of lands in said Districts, at the court House in Kona on August 2d A.D. 1873 served by publication in the Hawaiian Gazette of July 16th and Kuokoa of July 19th 1873, and adjourned to Kailua on the 12th instant. Due notice personally served on owners or agents of adjoining lands, as far as known.

Testimony
Kauwa, wahine, sworn, I was born at Puaa, North Kona, Hawaii, at time of Keoua, and have always lived there, and am acquainted with the boundaries of the land. Kahio, my father (now dead), who was a kamaaina, and bird catcher told me the boundaries.
Puaa is bounded makai by the sea and the land has ancient fishing rights near the shore, but not extending out to sea. Thence commencing at a punawai by the seashore called Holoke, between the lands of Puaa and Auhaukeae and running mauka to Poholua, a huli pali near the shore and just above a house; thence along iwi aina, the boundary runs mauka to Kuinakihei, an oioina way above pa aina; or Governor Adam's wall; thence to Puukole, a breadfruit tree; thence to Nuanulapalapa, a kualapa; thence mauka to Keahupuaa, the [page 377] the [sic] boundary follows the iwi aina, along all these places; thence to a kihapai by the mauka Government road; thence to an Ahupohaku; thence along the iwi aina to Kanoweana, an old kauhale, a rose[?] bushes and a Puuhala tree are at this place from thence ....

The last two courses on page 64 and the first course on page 65 were changed by me, on the certificate of J.S. Emerson of April 23d 1887 to make them agree with J.M. Alexander's description of Holualoa 1st and with the true position of Puu Laalaau; also the area of land.
