The ahupuaa of Hamanamana, District of North Kona, Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit.

On this 13th day of August A.D. 1873 the Commission of Boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit, met at Kalaoa, North Kona, Hawaii for the hearing of the application of J.O. Dominis, acting for Her Excellency, R. Keelikolani, for the settlement of the boundaries of Hamanamana situated in North Kona, Hawaii.

Notice to all parties interested in the settlement of Boundaries of lands in North and South Kona, Hawaii; that the Commissioner of Boundaries for the 3d Judicial Circuit would be prepared to receive applications for the settlement of boundaries of lands in said Districts, at the Court House in Kona, on August 2d A.D. 1873. Served by publication in the Hawaiian Gazette of July 16th and Kuokoa of July 19th 1873 and adjourned to Kalaoa on the 13th instant. Due notice personally served on owners or agents as far as known, of adjoining lands. Present: S.K. Kaai for applicant, Crown Commissioner, and Hawaiian Government.

Testimony
Moa, kane, sworn, I was born at Kaula, North Kona, Hawaii at the time of Peleleau; have lived here at Kalaoa since the time of Governor Adams, and know the land of Hamanamana and its boundaries. I have seen the natives setting up idols and worshipping on some of the boundaries.

.... e to Keahuapua at the mauka road; thence mauka to Kalualapa, a hill and crater, the boundary passing on the Kau side of the crater; thence mauka passing Kaaipuaa (a mahina ai that used to belong to my parents) to a large ohia tree that is on the road from Kaupulehu to the top of the mountain; this tree is the mauka boundary of Hamanamana and Haleohiu on the boundary of Kaupulehu; thence along Kaupulehu towards Kona towards a place called Kapulehu; thence makai along Kalaoa is a mahina ai called Aki, the boundary runs through it. [page 265] Thence to the side of Kipuka, the iwiaina runs along through the enclosed lot to the Government road to Ahupuaa; thence along Huea's land; thence makai to Kaiwiholehole, the makai corner of Huea's land; a part of the place called Kukaimelemele is on Haleohiu and a part on Hamanamana, and not on the boundary between Hamanamana and Kalaoa. Kaiwiholehole is a large hala grove; thence to Kalaekailio; thence to Kelehua, ohia trees growing on the aa; thence makai to Kahua at the seashore. Bounded makai by the sea. The ancient fishing rights was limited to the rocks at shore. The sea belonging to Haleohiu.
